Aggravated Robbery Press Release

Aggravated Robbery
On February 12, 2018 at approximately 12:27 pm, two suspects robbed the two owners of the Valero, located at 3228 Central Avenue. The owners had just exited the Valero with the stores deposits. The suspects, who were armed with handguns approached the owners and forcibly took an undisclosed amount of cash from them.
HSPD Officer Richard Nunez was patrolling in the area of Central and Crawford and heard one of the victims scream. Officer Nunez then saw a GMC Acadia fleeing the area. Officer Nunez began to pursue the GMC Acadia and observed it stop between Pro Signs and Graphics (110 Crawford Drive) and Colton’s Steak House (120 Crawford Drive). As Officer Nunez pulled behind the GMC Acadia, he saw one suspect fleeing on foot.
Multiple HSPD officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter. One person, who matched the suspect description was located in the area. That person was detained, but is not being named at this time.

Sonny Payne has passed away

“Sunshine” Sonny Payne, host of the long-running King Biscuit Time radio show, has passed away. He was 92 years old.

The program, which aired on KFFA 1360 AM in Helena-West Helena, was the longest-running blues show in the country. Payne began hosting the show in 1951. Artists from BB King to Levon Helm have credited him as an influence in their music. Guests included Muddy Waters and Robert Plant. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2010.

BURN BAN

HSFD issues burn ban

HOT SPRINGS – Due to current dry atmospheric conditions, all open burning within the City of Hot Springs is now prohibited.

Effective at 7 p.m. this evening, Thursday, September 28, all burning permits are hereby revoked. The burn ban will remain in effect until the fire danger and associated atmospheric conditions improve.

PRESS RELEASE

The Lake Hamilton Fire & Rescue passed a unanimous Annexation Policy Resolution at its recent Board Meeting opposing the City of Hot Springs annexation policies.  We are respectfully demanding the City of Hot Springs repeal their ordinance to annex Enclave “B” or give all affected residents the opportunity to vote.
