On Monday May 9, 2016 the Garland County Sheriff’s Office received a snapshot from the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline regarding sexual abuse of a twelve year old female by a known offender, James Sharp of Hot Springs.
On May 10, 2016 the twelve year old female was interviewed at the Cooper-Anthony Mercy Child Advocacy Center by investigators from the Arkansas State Police and the Garland County Sheriff’s Office. The twelve year old juvenile female disclosed that she and the offender had numerous sexual contacts between the ages of eleven and twelve.
The Garland County Sheriff’s Office received information that James Sharp was planning to flee to the state of Georgia to avoid prosecution. A warrant was issued for James Eugene Sharp (D.O.B. 01/30/1984) on the charge of Rape 5-14-103 a class Y felony.
On Tuesday May 10, 2016 Garland County investigators with assistance from the Hot Springs Police Department were able to locate and apprehend James Sharp at a local Motel on Albert Pike Road at approximately 3:30 P.M.
Mr. Sharp is currently being held on a $0 bond at the Garland County Detention Center.
